Database Administrator at Dalux
As our new Database Administrator, you will drive database operations and ensure the scalability, performance, availability, and security of mission-critical database systems in an MS SQL & AWS RDS environment.
Being our Database Administrator you will be serving as a bridge between application development and database management.
Main Responsibilities
Design and implement highly scalable and available databases aligned with Dalux's product vision.
Develop automation strategies using Entity Framework and Infrastructure as Code.
Own and take actions on database operations decisions focusing on resilience, performance, and security.
Provide expert guidance to develop teams on database best practices.
Drive continuous improvement in database operations across the organization.
Your key tasks will be to investigate and resolve database-related incidents as well as configure and manage AWS RDS environments using CDK/Terraform. Moreover, you will execute database upgrades, patches, and migrations with minimal downtime.
The role also includes to monitor database performance and build future capacity needs, build and optimize C# code with Entity Framework for efficient database interaction as well as implementing backup, recovery, and disaster recovery solutions. Together with development teams you will collaborate on database integration challenges.
Part of the job is to define and implement database design principles and best practices and create and maintain comprehensive documentation
About You
We require you to have bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or equivalent. You have +5 years of experience in a DBA or similar role within an enterprise environment with understanding of high availability DB solutions and failover management.
You have strong expertise in MS SQL Server and AWS RDS services and experience with ORM tools (preferably Entity Framework 6 and EF Core).
Furthermore, you are proficient in database scalability including sharding and regionalization. You have working knowledge of infrastructure automation tools (AWS CDK, Terraform) and strong SQL skills with hands-on experience. We prefer you to have scripting skills in PowerShell and Python with experience supporting databases for SaaS solutions is highly valued.
