Are you a seasoned engineer who loves turning cutting-edge Generative AI into real, high-impact products? Do you enjoy being the person who brings clarity to complex technical decisions — and who can challenge and inspire both developers and business stakeholders? Then you might be our new Senior Generative AI Specialist & Tech Lead in Digital Channels Solutions, part of the Oasis tribe.
Our GenAI-powered chatbot is already live in Denmark across web and app — and we are just getting started. Your mission will be to help us scale the solution across the Nordic markets, deepen personalisation through smarter integrations, and continuously push the boundaries of what great customer experience looks like in insurance.
About The Role
As Tech Lead, you will set the technical direction for the Generators squad, mentor your team, and be a trusted sparring partner for our Product Owner and business stakeholders — all while staying hands-on and close to the code.
You will drive the next leap in our AI capabilities by:
Scaling our GenAI Assistant from Denmark to all Nordic markets
Building real-time, production-ready AI systems that integrate with a growing number of internal APIs and data sources to deliver personalized guidance and support
Continuously refining prompts, retrieval pipelines, grounding strategies, and evaluation frameworks to increase accuracy, safety and customer relevance.
Setting the technical direction and ensure we make the right architectural and implementation decisions.
Bringing structure and clarity to complex challenges and guide the team toward scalable, robust solutions.
Collaborating closely with the Product Owner, helping qualify requirements, challenge assumptions and translate customer insights into strong technical solutions.
Although the role does not include formal people management responsibilities, you will play an important role in guiding and inspiring the team. You will mentor developers and help elevate the squad’s technical maturity, lead by example through clean, maintainable code and thoughtful system design, and actively participate in sparring sessions with other Tech Leads and architects across the organisation — including our Tech Lab — where you can help shape If’s broader technology landscape.
Your primary location will be If’s office in Ballerup, where we work in a hybrid setup with fixed team days onsite. Travel is a natural part of the role, and you can expect approximately 10–15 travel days per year. This includes visits to Nordic markets for collaboration and rollouts, as well as occasional trips to our office in Kuala Lumpur.
We offer
While we set high expectations for you as an employee, we also expect you to set high expectations for us as your employer. Here are some of the benefits of working at If:
A highly skilled and welcoming professional environment.
A culture built around trust, autonomy and collaboration.
Modern tech, modern ways of working and room to innovate.
Career and development opportunities in the largest insurance group in the Nordics.
Hybrid working model and great offices in Ballerup.
Attractive insurance benefits, pension and wellness offerings.
About The Team
You will be a hands-on squad member in Generators, an agile team that builds customer-facing solutions driven by real user insights. We work with a clear build–measure–learn mindset, continuously validating what delivers the most value for our customers. Collaboration, code quality and a team-first mindset matter deeply to us.
Who are you?
You are a true team player who enjoys lifting others and driving shared technical excellence. You are curious, pragmatic, and unafraid to challenge both technical and business assumptions. Switching between hands-on coding, architectural thinking, and stakeholder dialogue feels natural to you, and you thrive in a cross-Nordic, cross-functional, and hybrid working environment.
You can recognize yourself in the following core qualifications:
Solid senior experience in back-end development using Python.
Practical experience working with Generative AI models, LLM APIs, and prompt engineering.
Experience integrating AI with production systems, internal data, and APIs.
Experience with RAG patterns or vector databases.
Strong understanding of cloud and DevOps principles (Azure, CI/CD, IaC, Git).
Ability to frame and evaluate AI quality systematically, including relevance, reliability, and safety.
Strong communication skills and the ability to turn technical complexity into clear guidance for both developers and business stakeholders.
It’s a clear advantage if you have experience in some of the following areas, although it’s not a requirement. This includes working with frameworks such as LangChain or LangGraph, having knowledge of Azure AI Foundry or other GenAI platforms, and bringing a background from regulated industries such as finance or insurance.
